pre_site_option_option filter
The dynamic portion of the hook name, $option, refers to the option name.
To use the pre_site_option_option filter, first you have to register it using add_filter. You can write this code into the functions.php of your activated theme or in a custom WordPress Plugin.
We at WePlugins always prefer to create a custom WordPress Plugin while using hooks so nothing breaks when you update your WordPress Theme in the future.
In the below live example, we have defined a function modify_pre_site_option_option_defaults which takes 4 parameters and we registered it using add_filter. The first parameter pre_site_option_option is the name of the hook, the second parameter modify_pre_site_option_option_defaults is the name of the function which needs to be called, the third parameter is the priority of calling the hook if the same hook is used multiple times, and the last parameter is the number of arguments (if any) to be passed in the registered function.
Sometimes, you have to remove a registered hook, so you can use remove_filter to remove the pre_site_option_option filter.
Parameters
Below are the 4 parameters required to use this hook.
- $pre_option : (mixed) The value to return instead of the option value. This differs from $default, which is used as the fallback value in the event the option doesn’t exist elsewhere in get_network_option(). Default false (to skip past the short-circuit).
- $option : (string) Option name.
- $network_id : (int) ID of the network.
- $default : (mixed) The fallback value to return if the option does not exist. Default false.
Live Examples
Example 1: Basic Usage
Below is an example of how you can use this hook.
function weplugins_modify_pre_site_option_option_defaults($pre_option, $option, $network_id, $default) { // Update the $pre_option variable according to your website requirements and return this variable. You can modify the $pre_option variable conditionally too if you want. return $pre_option; } // Add the filter add_filter("pre_site_option_option", "weplugins_modify_pre_site_option_option_defaults", 10, 4);
Example 2: Conditional Modification
In this example, we modify the $pre_option variable conditionally based on the option name.
function weplugins_modify_pre_site_option_option_conditional($pre_option, $option, $network_id, $default) { if ($option === 'special_option') { $pre_option = 'Special Value'; } return $pre_option; } // Add the filter add_filter("pre_site_option_option", "weplugins_modify_pre_site_option_option_conditional", 10, 4);
Example 3: Removing the Hook
To remove a hook callback, use the example below.
// Remove the filter remove_filter("pre_site_option_option", "weplugins_modify_pre_site_option_option_defaults", 10, 4);
Please make sure to provide the same callback function name, priority, and number of arguments while removing the hook callback.
